The bagpipes, mouth harp and stylophone are but three of the instruments that he has approached with caution, but you are most likely to see him breaking guitar strings. Julian Wagstaff was born in Edinburgh in 1970 and played violin from the age of 5, taking up guitar at the age of 11. He has played in rock bands, orchestras and as a solo musician since that time, and has also worked briefly in television - researching a documentary about the band Def Leppard. He is the writer and composer of John Paul Jones, a full-length stage musical which premiered in Edinburgh in 2001 and for which the original cast recording is now available on CD. He has just completed a Masters degree in Composition at Edinburgh University, studying with the composer Nigel Osborne. |
